Rockies place Martin on 15-day DL (AP)
Colorado Rockies reliever Tom Martin was put on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a strained left groin. The 36-year-old left-hander was 2-0 last season for the Rockies with a 5.07 ERA in 68 relief appearances. Martin pitched a career high 60 1-3 innings in 2006, striking out 46 and walking 25.

Diamondbacks 13, Rockies 9 (AP)
Scott Hairston had plenty to smile about on Tuesday. Before batting practice, Arizona manager Bob Melvin told the 26-year-old outfielder he had made the team. Hairston celebrated by homering in each of his first three at-bats and driving in five runs to lead the Diamondbacks to a 13-9 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
