The Rockies see shortstop Troy Tulowitzki as the face of the future of their franchise.
And they have made certain he is going to have his face atop a Rockies uniform for sometime, a move they hope will help convince other homegrown members of the roster to sign up, too. Tulowitzki signed a six-year, $31 million contract, the biggest ever given a player with less than two years of major league experience.
”We know we’ve got a special player here, but more importantly, we’ve got a very special person,” general manager Dan O’Dowd said. “They come along very rarely.”
Tulowitzki is the latest example of the Rockies’ bid to keep their NL championship team together.
