San Diego put the game out of reach with a big ninth inning, preventing Colorado from pulling off any late comeback at Coors Field this time around. Edgar Gonzalez’s second homer of the game capped San Diego’s seven-run ninth as the Padres ended their eight-game losing streak with a 15-8 victory over the Rockies on Monday night.

Dane Sardinha hit a two-run triple for his first major league hit to rally the Tigers to a 4-3 win over the woeful Colorado Rockies on Sunday, giving Detroit a three-game sweep. Detroit, which won its fifth straight and 15th in its last 18, has a winning record for the first time this season. Troy Tulowitzki homered for Colorado, which lost its seventh straight.

Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run double in the bottom of the ninth and the Detroit Tigers overcame Todd Jones’ blown save to beat the Colorado Rockies 7-6 on Saturday night. With their fourth straight win and 14th in 17 games, the Tigers improved to .500 for the first time this season. The Rockies used three consecutive two-out hits to claw back from a three-run deficit in the top of the ninth.

Eddie Bonine limited Colorado to five hits over eight innings to lift the Detroit Tigers to a 7-1 win over the Rockies on Friday night. Curtis Granderson was 4-for-5 with two triples for Detroit, which has won three straight, 14 of its last 18 and is one game under .500 for the first time since May 1.

Cleveland’s Cliff Lee and Oakland’s Rich Harden showed why they’re considered aces of the American League. Tampa Bay’s Matt Garza topped them both on Thursday. Garza pitched a one-hitter, allowing only a leadoff homer in the seventh inning to Hanley Ramirez, as the Rays defeated the Florida Marlins 6-1 to complete a three-game sweep.

Luke Hochevar pitched a career-high eight innings, Ross Gload drove in two runs and the Kansas City Royals beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2 Wednesday night for their fifth straight victory. The last-place Royals swept the series and improved the majors’ best interleague record to 12-3. Kansas City has won 10 of 11, all against National League teams.

Umpire Brian O’Nora was released from the hospital Wednesday after sustaining a mild concussion and a cut on his forehead when he was hit by a broken maple bat the previous night. O’Nora was behind the plate for a game between Colorado and Kansas City when Miguel Olivo’s bat shattered on a groundout to shortstop in the bottom of the second inning.

Plate umpire Brian O’Nora was hit in the head by a shattered piece of Miguel Olivo’s broken maple bat Tuesday night, sending blood streaming down his face and forcing him out of a game between the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals. O’Nora was injured in the bottom of the second inning when Olivo’s bat snapped on a groundout to shortstop.
