    Rockies hit 3 homers, hand Nats 10th straight loss (AP)

    After the Nationals lost their 10th straight game, manager Manny Acta had a few things to say to his team. Enjoy a barbeque, spend time with your family. These were some of his suggestions on getting the Nationals back to a winning mindset after Washington’s 7-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

    Ian Stewart and Seth Smith hit three-run homers, Aaron Cook struggled through five innings for his 15th victory and the Colorado Rockies beat Washington 7-2 on Sunday, handing the Nationals their season-high 10th straight loss.     Troy Tulowitzki drove in three runs and the Colorado Rockies scored six times in the fifth inning to extend the Washington Nationals’ losing streak to nine games with a 13-6 victory Saturday night. Garrett Atkins, Brad Hawpe and Ian Stewart had two RBIs apiece for the Rockies, who broke open a 5-2 game in the fifth.

    Chris Snyder and Chris Burke hit consecutive homers in a five-run fifth inning, leading Dan Haren and the Arizona Diamondbacks over the Colorado Rockies 6-2 Thursday. Haren (13-6) pitched eight sharp innings, giving up one run while striking out nine. He also had two hits and scored a run to win for the sixth time in seven starts.

    Rockies promote C Melhuse (PA SportsTicker)

    The Colorado Rockies purchased the contract of catcher Adam Melhuse from Class AAA Colorado Springs prior to Thursday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

    Torrealba scratched with undisclosed injury (AP)

    Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba was scratched from Thursday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks and replaced by Chris Iannetta. Colorado said Torrealba was being evaluated by the medical staff for an undisclosed injury, and announced during the game it had purchased the contract of catcher Adam Melhuse from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

    Hawpe’s 2-run homer leads Rockies past Arizona (AP)

    Brad Hawpe hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the eighth inning and the Colorado Rockies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 Wednesday night. Ian Stewart and Clint Barmes also homered for the Rockies, who had lost three straight and five of six. Chad Tracy homered for Arizona, which began the day with a one-game lead over Los Angeles in the NL West.

    Big Unit gets 294th win as D-backs beat Rockies (AP)

    Randy Johnson took care of business on the mound and at the plate, ensuring Adam Dunn’s Arizona debut would be a winning one. Johnson pitched six solid innings and singled in a run, Dunn went 1-for-3 with a double and the Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2 on Tuesday night. “It felt good,” Dunn said.
